Six problems we're built for.

Different challenges, same territory: data-heavy products and the cloud systems behind them. Every engagement is fixed scope and fixed price, agreed before work begins.

  • Fixedscope and price
  • Seniorengineers only, no handoff
  • 0sdowntime on migrations

01platform rebuildmost common

Platform Rebuild

For products that outgrew their first stack.

The typical starting point: a product running on WordPress, Google Sheets, Airtable, or Retool that proved the business and now can't carry it. We rebuild it on an architecture matched to how the product is actually used — and the live product stays online the entire time.

  • Fixed scope and fixed price, agreed up front. No hourly meter.
  • Zero downtime during migration. Paying users stay logged in through the switch.
  • Historical data preserved and made queryable — often for the first time.

Reference work: DFS Army and Daily Edge Sports, both migrations off WordPress and Google Sheets.

02build from scratch

Build From Scratch

New products and MVPs, in 4–8 weeks.

Speed matters at the start, but most MVPs buy speed by borrowing against the future — a rewrite within a year. We build first versions on architecture that survives the next stage, so the thing that gets you funded is the thing you keep shipping on.

  • A working product in 4–8 weeks, not a prototype.
  • Architecture decisions documented and explained, not just delivered.
  • Built by the same senior engineers who scoped it.

Reference work: StatRankings and Wasool, both built from a blank repository.

03data engineering

Data Engineering

Pipelines, warehouses, and query performance.

When reporting depends on someone updating a spreadsheet, or a query that used to take a second now takes a minute, the problem is data engineering. We build ETL pipelines, design warehouses, and fix query performance on datasets that got slow as they got big.

  • ETL and pipeline builds, including sources with no native connectors.
  • Warehouse design that replaces manual, spreadsheet-driven reporting.
  • Query optimization on production datasets, measured in milliseconds.

Reference work: the Polars ETL pipelines behind DFS Army, and the 26-year stats platform behind StatRankings.

04cloud architecture & cost

Cloud Architecture & Cost

Infrastructure that scales without the bill scaling with it.

Cloud bills grow quietly, and most of the growth is architectural: over-provisioned instances, chatty services, data moved more often than it needs to be. We treat cost as an engineering outcome — the result of a system designed well, not a discount negotiated later.

  • AWS architecture design and review.
  • Cost work grounded in measurements, not guesses — Daily Edge Sports runs at 68.53% lower AWS cost than its prior setup.
  • Environments sized to what the product needs — StatRankings runs dev and production together under $600/month.

Reference work: Daily Edge Sports and StatRankings.

05architecture & scale audit

Architecture & Scale Audit

A fixed-fee senior review of what breaks first.

Useful before a raise, before a marketing push, or before committing to a rebuild. A senior engineer goes through your system and answers two questions in writing: what breaks first as you grow, and what fixing it costs.

  • Fixed fee, fixed timeline, written findings.
  • Prioritized by what fails first, not by what's fashionable to fix.
  • No obligation to have us do the fixing.

An audit is often how a Platform Rebuild gets scoped — but plenty of them end with "don't rebuild yet."

06fractional cto

Fractional CTO

Senior technical leadership, before the full-time hire.

For funded founders who need someone senior in the room — for architecture decisions, hiring, vendor calls, and investor diligence — but aren't ready to commit a full-time CTO salary. You get judgment that has already made these mistakes elsewhere, on someone else's budget.

  • Ongoing engagement with defined, scheduled availability.
  • Technical hiring support: scorecards, interviews, offer calibration.
  • A clear handover when you do hire full-time.

Led by Ali Tariq, a former VP of Engineering who still writes code on client systems. More about the founder.

Not sure which one it is?

Describe the product and the problem. We'll tell you which of these it actually is — or whether it's none of them.
